Monstarr: The Story So Far March 07, 2004 - 3:29 p.m. So, it's Sunday afternoon, I'm nowhere near hungover as I should be feeling but then the 25000 other homos at the mardi gras after party stopped me getting too drunk. You'd think that as most people there were pilling off their tits that the bars would be more accessible? Oh no, I guess there were more non-drug takers than just me there then. There were plenty of fucking scary outfits, waaaaay too many saggy middle aged leather queens walking around with their arses out (put it away!), attitudes galore and, rather amusingly, I bumped into a boy from Brisbane (who I had snogged two nights previously) wearing nothing else but furry pink hot pants, matching boots and plenty of body glitter. With so many people around you had to queue for everything. It was impossible to find friends and by three am (after I had waited for an hour to get into one dance area) I had had more than enough and went home. I don't necessarily think that you have to take drugs to enjoy dance music but you definitely needed some to enjoy the afterparty! I hung around with three mates but I did bump into some people, Matthew & Natasha (Sandys lovely friends), lots of people I know from Sydney and I briefly ran into Eric & Co. The toilets were frankly scary, just too many people peeing next to each other. Still, I'm complaining too much. There was a retro dance room which was just fab, I did manage to have a few drinks, I had a great laugh with my mates Graham, James and Mark and I was introduced to the hottest boy! He was a friend of a friend but unfortunately I didn't run into them again that night. It was a fun overall experience and after my time in Oz no-one can say that I haven't given gay dance parties a good go!
