Monstarr: The Story So Far February 06, 2004 - 4:07 p.m. I managed to get through this flight thankfully without getting food stains on my crotch like I did on my way from Perth to Sydney. Glenn came to meet at the airport bless him. Glenn, in case people don't already know, is an aussie therapy radiographer who used to work at the marsden and who I did gay pride with a couplem of years ago. He kindly offered to let me stay at his flat in Richmond. This turned out to be just perfect as Glenns place was a ten minute walk from where the tennis was being held, was a five minutes walk from where I was looking for a job and was a sohrt cab ride from Q&A, the gay indie night on a Thursday. I had come to Melbourne for two main reasons. The Australian Open and the big day out. Both of which had cost a small fortune on my credit card but I'm trying my best to ignore that for the moment! I flew in on the Sunday and had promised myself an early start for the tennis the next day. Well, it didn't happen! I got to the tennis at about eleven am and this would set a trend for me and the tennis over the next fortnight. I spent most of the that first day on one of the outside courts. I applied factor 30 every hour and enjoyed some great tennis. Unfortunately I didn't have the foresight to buy and a wear a hat so after for sitting in the aussie sun for most of a day my scalp was a little bit burned, d'oh! The next day I bought myself a 'zoo york' cap which I thought was rather cool and protected my burnt little scalp for the ret of the fortnight. Prices for food and drink were expectedly high in the tennis complex and I took my own water and food. That saved me quite a lot of money.
