February 06, 2004 - 4:20 p.m.

Apart from the ladies final I didn't see too many big tennis stars although I did see a lot of fantastic tennis. I saw Tim Henman win, Greg Rusedski lose and I got thwe chance to see one of my favourite players, Ai Sugiyama, in action. One of my days at the tennis I managed to get into the Vodafone arena (one of the big ones) and I watched the very hunky Marat Safin win.

The highlight of the tennis was going to see the ladies final with Glenn. It was a great match and the atmosphere was wonderful. I was a little disappointed that Kim Clijsters didn't win but it was amazing to witness a grand slam final.

Asode from the tennis I did quite a bit of shopping, I bought new shoes, shorts, a t-shirt and some new carrhart jeans.

I was all fired for the big day out but the day before I was stuck down with a really nasty 24 hour stomach bug. I won't go into details but I had a bloody awful day. Although I felt a lot better the next day I still felt really drained. I made it to the big day out and saw the darkness (very amusing), lost prophets (a little shit but very hot boys) but best of all was seeing Peaches. She is one amazing performer. For the hour she was on stage I completely forgot about feeling ill and danced my arse off.

She had loads of costume changes and played nearly all of 'fatherfucker'. There were so many great bits from getting the crowd to sing along with "I U SHE", to her two female dancers sporting dildos on there hot pants for 'shake yr dix' or the onscreen duet with Iggy pop for 'kick it'. She had so much energy, bounding around the stage, climbing on speakers and doing a few guitar solos. I can't wait to see her again!

I didn't hang around for much longer after that, my bug from the day before really caught up with me so I headed back to Glenns flat.

I went to Q&A on the thursday of the first week I was in Melbourne. Byron and James came round for dinner first and it was great to catch up with them. Byron is a motor journalist and had driven to Glenns flat in one of those tiny smart cars. This meant that when we drove to Q&A I was perched on James' knee in the passenger seat. Thankfully it was only a short drive and we didn't pass any cops!

It was just fantastic to be back in a gay indie place, I danced loads and got well pissed. There were loads of cute indie boys but I didn't even try to pull, I was having too much fun. When I went to Q&A in the second week a guy from the UK came up to me having recognised me from Popstarz. That was odd but kinda cool. His name was Andy and we ended up having a bit of a snog. I actually pulled! That hadn't happened for a long time!

Another highlight of Melbourne was meeting up with an old friend from Uni, Fiona Mellor. We got drunk over a couple of bottles of wine, talked about our old days at uni and swapped radiography gossip.

While I was in Melbourne I was able to sort out a job in Richmond (where Glenn lives) and Glenn offered to let me stay at his place when I go back to Melbourne to work in March, wicked!

All in all I had a great two weeks in Melbourne and thanks to Glenn for letting me stay.
